Biomolecular Horizons 2024

We are sponsoring the registration costs of two of our outstanding Postgraduate or Early Career members to attend Biomolecular Horizons 2024.

The joint IUBMB-FAOBMB-ComBio Biomolecular Horizons 2024 Congress (22-26 September) in Melbourne, Australia brings together the bioscience and biotechnology communities to discuss and examine the latest developments and research.

This will be the first time the IUBMB Congress will be held in Melbourne and only the third time in the Southern Hemisphere. It will join with FAOBMB and ComBio to create a truly global forum bringing together renowned scientists from across the world, from Nobel Laureates to early career scientists.

Over the five days, the Congress will offer a series of plenary sessions, keynotes, symposia, and poster presentations. There will also be a dedicated Young Scientists Program (taking place in the Macedon Ranges, Australia from 20-22 September), Outreach Events, Career Development Events, Education Events, Publication Workshops, Technical Workshops, Art Meets Science and Networking Events and a Government Industry Forum.

The grant provides two Biochemical Society members with:

  • Accommodation*
  • Registration for the Biomolecular Horizons 2024 Congress and Young Scientists Program
  • Return transport from Melbourne to Macedon Ranges
  • Some meals and excursions
  • Up to £1,200 towards travel costs

*Please note: Accommodation will be provided in shared rooms during YSP2024. This includes 1 night accommodation in Melbourne (19 September 2024) prior to YSP at Macedon Ranges (20-22 September 2024). Accommodation for the Congress will be provided at the Best Western Melbourne City Hotel.

The theme for Biomolecular Horizons 2024 is “Discover, Create, Innovate”.

2024 Awardees

Congratulations to Jessica Oyie Sousa Onyeisi and Tom Snelling for receiving an International Sponsored Place in 2024!

Stay connected with us as we share more about their experiences at the Biomolecular Horizons Congress.

I am grateful for the opportunity that the Biochemical Society is giving me and I’m very excited to participate in Biomolecular Horizons 2024. I see this conference as a great opportunity to connect with researchers from all across the world and expanding my network. Therefore, this will also be a great opportunity to contribute to diversity in scientific meetings and learn more and discuss climate change, a highly relevant and current issue in the context of cancer.
