Research Areas and Theme Panels

Members of our six Research Areas and three Theme Panels put forward ideas for events, consider proposals from within their field of expertise and highlight areas of hot science that should be considered for inclusion in the events programme. They also develop interdisciplinary activities and collaborate with appropriate partner societies.

Twenty years after its discovery, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) has become one of the most studied proteins. Since ACE2 was identified as the SARS-coronavirus 2 receptor, it has held centre stage with already more than 500 peer-reviewed publications in 2020.
