Student Opportunities Grants

Grants of between £50-£100 are available to support career enhancing opportunities for students.   

These grants are available to Undergraduate or Postgraduate Members of the Biochemical Society.

Student Opportunities Grants offer small amounts of funding (typically £50-£100) to assist students with extracurricular, molecular bioscience-based projects that enable them to develop skills and boost their CV.

Example projects can include, but are not limited to:

  • Science communication e.g., creation of a blog, YouTube series, magazine etc.
  • Student society events and activities.

To be eligible to apply: 

  • Applicants must be an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Member of the Biochemical Society. 
  • The project must be based around the molecular biosciences.

Applications are welcomed throughout the year but must be submitted at least one month before the scheduled event is due to take place (if applicable).

Our Diversity in Science Grants provide up to £1,000 to individuals, groups, charities, or not-for-profit organisations.


Single lectures and small events

Sponsored Event Grants provide sponsorship of up to £500 to assist with the independent organization of single lectures or small events such as postgraduate research days.
