Invited Speaker Support Grant

Available exclusively to our invited speakers, we offer support towards additional care or accessibility costs associated with participation in a Biochemical Society meeting.

We are committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone has a platform to share their work and network with fellow experts in the field. Therefore, as an invited speaker for one of our scientific meetings or training events, we offer a contribution towards travel costs and complimentary registration as standard.

For international speakers or individuals with caring and/or accessibility requirements, we appreciate that there may be additional costs that impact your ability to participate in a meeting. If this is the case, we offer an Invited Speaker Support Grant to support childcare, carer, accessibility costs and more.

Please note that oral communication or poster presenters are not eligible for this scheme, and are invited to apply for our wide range of member bursaries.

How to Apply

Invited Speakers can apply for an Invited Speaker Support Grant during the complimentary registration process.

Events Calendar

Once you receive your personalised invitation link from the Conference Team, you can submit an application for an Invited Speaker Support Grant during the registration process. 

Applications are welcomed until 1 week before the scientific meeting or training event that you are presenting at.

To be eligible to apply: 

  • Applicants need to have been formally invited by the Conference Team or Programme Co-ordinators to speak at a Biochemical Society meeting or training event. (This does not include oral communication or poster presenters).
  • Applicants must not have received an Invited Speaker Support Grant in the last 12 months.

General Travel Grants

Funding of up to £1,500 to support attendance at face-to-face scientific meetings, workshops, and training courses.

Online Attendance Grants

Online Attendance Grants are available to cover the registration fees for online meetings, training courses, and workshops. These grants can cover livestream attendance at a Society meeting as well as external opportunities.


Single lectures and small events

Sponsored Event Grants provide sponsorship of up to £500 to assist with the independent organization of single lectures or small events such as postgraduate research days.

Bursaries

Care and Assistance Grants

Care and Assistance Grants provide additional funding to cover participation in a Society meeting or training course. The grant is open to all additional support needs, including but not limited to, carer support, childcare, disability, and accessibility needs.

Grants of up to £500 to assist with the independent organisation of scientific meetings, training events, single lectures or small events.
