Event - In-person training
UK
This training event will explore strategies for producing high-quality, pure, and homogenous recombinant proteins - essential for both structural and functional studies. Aimed at early career researchers, this introductory session is the first in a series of three protein-focused training events organised by the Biochemical Society.
Event - Scientific meeting
Join us in London for the 10th anniversary of SynBio UK, the premier conference for synthetic and engineering biology. This milestone event will bring together leading experts and emerging talents to reflect on the last ten years of synbio, showcase groundbreaking advancements, and explore future directions in the field.
Event - Webinar
Online
Part of our dedicated Biochemistry Focus Early Career Researcher (ECR) series, this webinar aims to provide early career researchers with practical tips on common peer review queries from an expert panel of Editors-in-Chief from Biochemical Society journals.
Event - Online training
R for Biochemists 201 is the Biochemical Society’s second R course, building on the content of R101 for those wishing to extend and develop their knowledge of R. The course has a focus on proteomic data analysis and uses modern data analysis concepts, packages and visualisations. R for Biochemists 201 teaches participants the key concepts of tidy data, about good coding practice such as developing reproducible workflows, and how to create more complex data visualisations in R.
This meeting will facilitate the open sharing of information on plant proteins, with the aim of identifying new avenues of research and knowledge gaps, as well as potential solutions for optimising plant protein production and utility through processing and functionalisation.
Join us for our Early Career Symposium, where we will explore a range of professional development themes. Targeted at those across the early career spectrum (late-stage PhD students, postdocs and beyond), this symposium will have engaging and interactive sessions, including ample opportunity for learning, discussion, and networking amongst early career researchers.
Following on from our popular webinar on AlphaFold2, Professor Dan Rigden is back to discuss how successive AlphaFold releases have revolutionised structure prediction of biomolecular systems.
Unlock the power of data in the life sciences with our comprehensive online course. This course covers fundamental statistical concepts and techniques essential for biochemistry and related fields. Learn how to analyse and interpret data, apply statistical methods, and enhance your research skills. Whether you're a student or a professional, this course provides a solid foundation in statistics to support your scientific discoveries.
Presenting the 2025 Early Career Research Award Lecture, Dr Shey Robert Adamu from the University of Buea will examine the transformative role of immunoinformatics in developing next-generation diagnostics and vaccines for onchocerciasis control.
Practical Python for beginners: a Biochemist’s guide aims to teach the core skills which underlie the application of Python to complex, real-world research problems.
Transcription and Chromatin UK brings together the rich transcription and epigenetics community in the UK and leading experts from abroad, and will feature all aspects of transcription and chromatin regulation in multiple model organisms and disease models. Most talks will be selected from abstracts and interspersed with invited speaker presentations, discussing the latest breakthroughs in transcriptional and epigenetic regulation.
