Membrane contact sites in cellular homeostasis 2026

Scientific meeting

01 Sep 2026 - 30 Sep 2026

UK

Dates: September 2026
Location:
Wales, UK (exact location and dates TBC)

This meeting will focus on mechanisms underlying membrane contact site formation, remodelling and function, showcasing advances in the field from both leading academics and early-career researchers.

Membrane contact sites are important interaction hubs with key roles in inter-organellar signalling, organelle biogenesis, lipid distribution, small molecule exchange, and metabolic rewiring and represent a cornerstone of modern cell biology research.

The identification of a plethora of novel tethering proteins and regulatory factors has provided detailed insights into the dynamic nature and functional diversity of membrane contact sites and highlighted their critical roles in various human pathologies, including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer.

Invited and selected presentations will cover the breadth of organelle networks, including interactions between the ER, mitochondria, lipid droplets, peroxisomes, lysosomes, and plasma membrane and feature research across disciplines and systems, from mammalian cells to plants and yeast.

We invite you to join us in advancing this dynamic and ever-growing field!
