Biochemistry Focus Webinar Series
60 minutes
In this webinar, co-hosted with the British Society for Research on Ageing, we welcomed Professor Joao Pedro de Magalhaes who gave an overview of research into the genes regulating ageing and the benefits of applying this knowledge to human health.
Ageing has a profound impact on human society and modern medicine. Although its causes remain largely mysterious, hundreds of genes are now known to regulate ageing in model organisms. Genes can increase longevity by up to 10 fold and delay the process of ageing as a whole in animal models.
Invited Speaker:
- Professor Joao Pedro de Magalhaes, Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool’s Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease
This webinar was chaired by Professor Claire Stewart, Liverpool John Moores University and Chair of the BSRA.
