Biochemistry Focus Webinar Series
60 minutes
At this webinar we heard from the 2022 Morton Lecture winner, Professor Valerie O'Donnell, Cardiff University, UK.
Valerie O’Donnell is Professor of Lipid Biochemistry in the Division of Infection and Immunity. Valerie's research is focused on using mass spectrometry for identification of lipid mediators of inflammation. For the last 15 years she has studied how modified phospholipids generated by circulating vascular cells regulate vascular inflammation and thrombosis. Her team published the first lipidomic characterisation of the viral envelope of SARS-CoV2. During her Award lecture, Professor O'Donnell discussed her latest lipid research.
The webinar was chaired by Professor Philip Calder, Head of Human Development & Health and Professor of Nutritional Immunology within Medicine at the University of Southampton, UK and Associate Editor for one of the Biochemical Society's journals, Clinical Science.
