The Biochemical Society is delighted to announce that Professor Lisa Chakrabarti is taking over as Interim Honorary Meetings Secretary, following Professor Michelle West stepping down at the end of December 2024.

Lisa has been involved with the Society since 2013, starting in Research Area VI – Biological Systems, taking over as Chair in 2018 and in 2022 becoming Chair of the Basic Biosciences Theme Panel. Lisa has a long and comprehensive history of working with societies and she is now stepping into this new role to help drive the Society’s conference programme, continuing to disseminate knowledge, provide networking opportunities, and build collaborations.  

Following her appointment, Lisa said:

"I’m delighted to have been appointed Interim Honorary Meetings Secretary and I look forward to continuing to work alongside our committees, panels, and staff to drive the events strategy and bring the community together."

Staff and committees look forward to working closely with Lisa in her new role over the coming months.
